Skye / Dornie Small Group Workshop
For various reasons until now I've strongly resisted doing group workshops and photographic tours instead concentrated on one-to-one tuition which has been incredibly successful. However recently quite a few people have asked about doing a longer workshop to top up their tuition but also to get to visit some new and exciting locations. I still don't want to offer large group workshops so I've teamed up with good friend and fellow fulltime professional landscape photographer Jon Gibbs (Link) and we will be offering a series of VERY small group workshops with a maximum of 6 participants to 2 tutors which as far as we know is a ratio unrivalled in the industry. It also means that you'll have the added benefit of seeing how two different professionals work.
Jon is a full time professional landscape photographer with his own gallery (Link) in Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. He's an incredibly passionate and enthusiastic but understated photographer and also has a lot of experience of running workshops (I met him when I attended one of his workshops several years ago!). He was also the original winner of the Take a View, Landscape Photographer of the Year Award (Link).

Dornie / Isle of Skye Workshop
Sunday 4th - Thursday 8th March Full
Monday 5th - Friday 9th November 3 Places Remaining
We will be running two workshops each year based in Tigh Tasgaidh Guesthouse (Link) in Dornie (the village next to Eilean Donan Castle) which is run by Jon's good friend Louise who is a most welcoming hostess who is justly proud of her beautiful house and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it.
The workshops will involve three full days of field based photography and plenty of time in the evening to talk through the day's events and review your work. We will meet on the afternoon before our first full day for introductions and a first evening shoot. There will then be 3 very full days, shooting from dawn to dusk followed by the option to do a final dawn shoot before we all leave on the final morning
All meals are included in the price with Louise providing a beautiful continental style breakfast and packed lunches and with myself and Jon cooking the evening meals (I'm told I'm a great cook!) which means we have total flexibility to come and go when we want with no fixed meal times.
As for locations, where do we start!? Around the Dornie area you have Glen Shiel, dominated by the Five Sisters of Kintail. The little visited Glenelg peninsula is a personal favourite of Jon's, the wonderful Sandaig Islands, sweeping views of the Sound of Sleat and at the end of the road the stunning Loch Hourn, which provides wonderful views to the mountains of the wilderness region of Knoydart. The picturesque village of Plockton is nearby and there are some lovely coastal locations to be shot at Plockton itself and Drumbuie.
Slightly further away from the area is the Applecross peninsula which has a stunning coastline with views towards Skye dominated by the outline of the Cuillin Hills. Further still is the Torridon area with its giant mountains Liathach and Beinn Eighe
The Isle of Skye probably needs no introduction suffice to say places like Elgol and the Storr could keep a photographer happy for days on end. We want to keep the itinerary totally flexible so we can react to the prevailing weather etc. but it's our intention to concentrate on the Southern part of the Island taking in locations such as Elgol, The Sleat Peninsula, Sligachan and Talisker Bay.
We will be taking the entire guesthouse for the duration of the workshop and the room layout and prices are as follows;
___________________________________________________________________________________________
Prices include as much tuition as we can fit in, all meals (including first night and last morning), accommodation, and all transport for the duration of the workshop.
As I hope you can tell we're really excited about these workshops and are hoping that they will offer a totally new and refreshing alternative to ordinary large group workshops. If you're interested please take a look at the galleries on my site (Link) and the Galleries on Jon's site (Link) and if you'd like any more information or to reserve a place drop me a line via the Contact Page (Link)
Eva Zandman, Skye/Dornie Workshop March 2012 www.evazandmanphotography.com

'The workshop in Dornie was the best thing I've ever done. Thoroughly enjoyable. The hosts looked after us at all times and made sure we took loads of pictures and that we have done that well. I greatly improved my landscape gallery after the workshop.'
Kevin Lockwood, Skye/Dornie Workshop March 2012

'I thoroughly enjoyed Den & Jon's Skye workshop. Although I'm an experienced landscape photographer I did pick up some handy tips. The feedback I received on my portfolio was valuable and encouraging. A very chilled workshop and excellent value for money. Keep up the good works guys'
